NOPD reminds residents of the availability of secure exchange areas in the parking lots of six of its eight district police stations to safely make purchases or sales in person.
Secure exchange zones are available in districts two to seven 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Although the secure exchange areas are not under video surveillance, they are located in well-lit and secure environments. People who exchange goods are only supposed to carry out legal transactions.
The resolution for safe trading areas was implemented by NOPD and members of the New Orleans City Council after a New Orleans man was killed on March 7, 2021, during the commission of a sale he initiated online.
