Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson was reportedly unhappy with this offseason when he suggested Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy should interview for the team’s head coach position and the Texans left him out of their list. But just because the Texans turned the corner and interviewed Bieniemy doesn’t mean Watson can be appeased.

According to ESPN’s Chris Mortensen, Watson wants to leave Houston and that won’t change no matter who the Texans hire to be their next head coach.

This could make it difficult for Texans to find a top candidate. While Watson won’t be there, the Texans job has been one of the NFL’s least attractive vacancies in years. The Texans are a bad team without a lot of capital projects or salary cap space to improve on. The only thing that would make the job attractive to a coach is that Watson, one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, is there.

If the Texans offer Bieniemy the job, he could decide that it’s better to stay in Kansas City, where Patrick Mahomes is leading his offense, than to go to Houston, where he doesn’t know who his quarterback would be.

It’s been a bad offseason in Houston, and things don’t seem to be improving.
