CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (WTVD) – Allegations are circulating around the UNC-Chapel Hill suspended women's basketball coach, Sylvia Hatchell, stepping up with new Washington Post information.

As ABC11 reported on Monday, Hatchell and his assistant coaches are on paid leave while the university investigates the allegations of the players.

According to ABC11 sources, the parents of players met with university officials last week, claiming that Hatchell had made insensitive remarks to the race and had pushed the players to go to the field when they were injured.

Sources also told us that four players were trying to transfer to other schools.

Now, the Washington Post reports that Hatchell told players that they would be "hanged from trees with flowing knots" during an upcoming match if their performance did not improve.

The Post reported speaking to six parents under the guise of anonymity.

Hatchell's lawyer in Raleigh, Wade Smith, provided the newspaper with a different version and said that the comments attributed to him are incorrect and misinterpreted.

Smith said Hatchell, 67, told the players: "They will take us by the rope, tie us by the string and make us go dry."

Smith also said, "There is no racist bone in her body" and she would never have tried to convince people to play that medical staff had not eliminated .
