It would be a surprise at this point if Kevin Durant decided to sign up again with the Warriors this summer, and the reasons given for why the independent agent will soon leave Golden State are not lacking. Could the main coach be among these reasons?

Newsday's Steve Popper spoke of Durant at the NBA Combine last week with several NBA leaders, and the general consensus is that Durant is a lock to sign with the New York Knicks. According to a member of the executive, Durant in Golden State, Durant is concerned that he has enough of Steve Kerr's "inducements" and knows that the Warriors will still be Stephen Curry's team. Durant with the Knicks, Durant would be the centerpiece of a tortured franchise rather than a superstar who joined a championship team just to get a ring.

It's no secret that Durant is a sensitive guy. He reminded us of this after the Warriors defeated the Portland Trail Blazers in Saturday's third game by sending a fan to Instagram for a reason that did not seem to be a reason. While Durant continues to sit with a calf injury, the Warriors continue to win games. They could probably win a championship without him this year, just like before his arrival, and it would not be hard to imagine that bothering someone as thin as KD.

As for Kerr and his so-called "sting", it is not clear what it is. Maybe Durant is fed up with playing in Kerr's heavy ball movement system now that he has two championship rings. Whatever the case may be, all signs indicate that he is leaving the Warriors this summer.
