Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence is going to have left shoulder surgery soon, so he’ll be hosting his only pre-draft kickoff session for NFL scouts, coaches and officers on Friday.

After three years of play that almost certainly made him the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 Draft, there seems little reason for Lawrence to go through the moves and little reason for teams other than the Jaguars to head to. South Carolina for the day. The Jaguars will be there and they will have company.

Albert Breer of SI.com reports that six other teams in the top 10 of the draft will be in attendance. The Jets, Dolphins, Falcons, Eagles, Broncos and Panthers are also expected to watch Lawrence. D. Orlando Ledbetter from Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Falcons coach Arthur Smith and general manager Terry Fontenot will represent the team.

According to Breer, one of the teams said they felt they had to be there to see Lawrence “just in case” something unexpected happened with the Jaguars. It seems unlikely, but being prepared for all eventualities is part of the job.
