FAYETTEVILLE – The search for the next basketball coach at the University of Arkansas could extend to next week.
Indeed, a target of choice always leads his team, and they are not the finalists of NIT Shaka Smart (Texas) or Casey Alexander (Lipscomb).

Beard, 46, spent the 2015-16 season as a coach of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and led the Trojans to a 30-5 record at the World Championships. the regular season and tournaments of the Sun Belt Conference and an appearance at the NCAA tournament, where they had defeated Purdue lose in the state of Iowa.
During the Red Raiders' run at the Elite Eight last season, Beard signed a 19-year deal worth $ 19 million that will bring him $ 2.8 million this season. This contract will be progressively increased to $ 3.3 million by 2023-24.
The contract currently provides for a buyback of about $ 6 million if Beard were to leave after this season.
Texas Tech Athletic director Kirby Hocutt told the Dallas Morning News Wednesday, he is ready to improve Beard's contract after this season.

Hocutt stated that discussions between him and Beard regarding a new contract had begun in late February.
