Rep. Jim Banks, R-Ind., Said Tuesday that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., “Must answer questions” on intelligence reports related to the chaos that occurred “during the January 6 riot at the Capitol.

“I think that’s a big reason why President Pelosi kidnapped and blocked me and [Rep.] Jim Jordan to sit on this committee because we wanted to ask questions about it, “Banks told America’s Newsroom shortly before the start of the first riot hearing.

“How is it that three weeks before January 6, intelligence reports were provided to the Capitol Police Directorate which suggested that extremist groups would storm the Capitol and that something dangerous was happening there? that day and yet the Capitol was completely unprepared for what would happen? ” The banks have asked.

JAN. COMMITTEE 6, AFTER THE PARTISAN BATTLE FOR NOMINATIONS, HAS ITS FIRST HEARING ON THE ATTACK ON THE CAPITOL

the lodge select committee investigating the January 6 attack on the Capitol held its first hearing on Tuesday, kicking off what is expected to be several politically charged and controversial months, focused on the violent day.

Tuesday’s hearing focuses on “The January 6 Law Enforcement Experience.” The four witnesses at the hearing are Private First Class Harry Dunn and Sergeant Aquilino Gonell of the United States Capitol Police, as well as Constables Michael Fanone and Daniel Hodges of the Metropolitan Police Department.

Pelosi announced last week that it had rejected two of the five GOP picks to sit on Select committee of January 6.

Pelosi said he would not name Banks and Jordan – two powerful allies of the former president Donald trump – the committee formed to investigate the cause of the January 6 riot on Capitol Hill and make recommendations on the prevention of future violence.

His move immediately sparked a backlash from minority parliamentary leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., Who called Pelosi’s move “unprecedented” and threatened to boycott the committee by all Republicans if Jordan and Banks were not named.

Banks said what is known is the Capitol Police Force was “unprepared.”

He explained that “there had been a systemic security failure” because “the Capitol police officers who were working on January 6 were not informed of the intelligence reports that were provided to the leadership of the Capitol police three weeks before the chaos.

“The more you ask these questions and unravel the facts on January 6, the more you end up in a series of questions that work their way up a chain of command that ends up on President Pelosi’s desk,” Banks said.

“Why this series of questions is not allowed to be part of what is asked today and at every hearing to come, should tell all Americans what they already know that this is a political coup from Pelosi and the Democrats and nothing more, ”Banks said.
