CARMEL, Ind. (Inside INdiana Business) – Indianapolis-based Republic Airways has announced plans to establish a new aviation campus in Carmel. The airline says the project will bring its headquarters, training activities and around 1,900 jobs to the city’s Meridian corporate corridor.
As part of the project, Republic announced that it will consolidate its training centers in Cincinnati, St. Louis, Indianapolis and other locations into a single, high-tech training center for pilots, technicians, flight attendants and others. posts. There will also be the expansion of an adjacent hotel and the construction of a new parking garage that will also include commercial and residential spaces.

The project is being developed by Kite Realty Group Trust (NYSE: KRG), based in Indianapolis, with Pure Development at Indy.
The three-story, 105,000 square foot training center will include 20 classrooms, nearly 100 workstations, two cabin simulators and eight flight simulators. The city says the simulators will be visible to drivers on the US 31 through large picture windows facing the freeway. There will also be an “eagle’s nest” viewing platform on the property for people to view the simulators.
The city adds that the hotel adjacent to the training center will be extended by 274 rooms. These rooms will be exclusively reserved for trainees, guest instructors, business partners and colleagues visiting the campus.
“We are particularly pleased that their state-of-the-art training center will provide career and workforce development opportunities in an industrial sector that is not available elsewhere in the region,” said the Mayor of Carmel, Jim Brainard. “The incidental increase in trade through support for trades and other industries will further improve our economy. We also look forward to the new residents that this will bring to the community and who can enrich our lives by participating in volunteer outreach activities and other civic engagements.
The overall cost of development is not yet known. However, the city says it will invest in the project through a tax increase funding obligation, subject to approval by Carmel City Council. The bond will be used for infrastructure improvements and the city says taxpayers will not be responsible for the bond.
Republic says the new jobs will come with an estimated total annual salary of $ 150 million. Koscal says the project builds on the airline’s existing Flight Leadership Training Academy (LIFT) at Indianapolis International Airport.
