OXON HILL, MD – Sin. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., Received a Friday subpoena issued at the request of a Democrat from Missouri, immediately after Hawley had spoken at the Conservative Political Action Conference.

This decision prompted Hawley 's office to dismiss the subpoena as an inexpensive exploit on the part of one Democrat, Elad Gross, who was investigating former Missouri Governor Eric Greitens. and who also ran for a state job in 2020.

"It's another political coup by a political candidate," Hawley spokesman Kelli Ford said. Washington Examiner by email. "The reality is that Mr. Gross escapes a date of hearing to discuss the case."

Hawley received the subpoena issued on February 11 by the Cole County Court in his home country by a hired processing server. Gross claims to be a Democrat for the next Missouri Attorney General. Hawley held this position until January after being elected to the Senate last year. Hawley was at the Maryland meeting to talk about curators and social media.

Gross said to the Washington Examiner he asked for the subpoena as part of an open investigation into cases involving the former governor and other groups and people related to what so-called "black money". He said that he had initially asked Miss GOP's new governor, Mike Parsons, and Attorney General Eric Schmidtt, also a Republican, to access 13,000 Greitens documents, but said they would not release the information without paying him $ 3,600.

Hawley, who is not named in the lawsuit, has attempted to overturn the subpoena for a number of reasons, including his status as "a high-level public official". ", stating that he had not been properly served and that it had been issued by a clerk. than a judge.

Coarse accusations that Hawley was summoned to appear because he did not cooperate and boasted on Twitter, "we got him".

The case will then be heard in court on March 15th.

Correction: An earlier version of this story incorrectly stating who served Senator Hawley. It was a process server, not Gross itself.
