The Orlando Apollos remained undefeated, while the San Diego fleet earned its first win of the year to close the second week of the Alliance of American Football season.
After Saturday's two games were decided by only five points combined, the four teams played on Sunday offered an excellent game, with the two winners coming from behind in the fourth quarter.
Results of February 17
Apollos of Orlando (2-0) def. Commanders of San Antonio (1-1), 37-29
San Diego fleet (1-1) def. Atlanta Legends (0-2), 24-12

Orlando was the victim of victory after overcoming a deficit of nine points in the fourth quarter.
The quarterback of the Apollos, Garrett Gilbert, was impressive throughout the day, regularly finding his receivers on deep bombs:

Gilbert finished with 393 yards passing, including 192 at Johnson. The quarterback then tied the game in the fourth quarter with another touchdown by Jalin Marshall.
However, it is the defense that won the match for Orlando.
The match being tied and the countdown finished, Keith Reaser recovered the ball and returned it for a touchdown to give the road team a lead:
The Apollos then stood on the goal line in the next round to maintain their lead and ultimately seal the win.
San Antonio had played well with Logan Woodside on the offensive, while Kenneth Farrow led the team with 74 yards rushing.
It was enough to lead after each of the first three quarters.
Still, Orlando continued to fly on the field with long finishes, and it was enough for visitors to win a victory in one of the most exciting games of the AAF season.
"Garret threw the ball beautifully, our receivers grabbed everything and our defense became alive in the second half," said the head coach. Steve Spurrier told CBS Sports after the game. "It was a good win for us."
The Apollos will try to maintain it during the third week at home against the Memphis Express. Commanders will be on the road to face the San Diego fleet.
San Diego Fleet 24, Atlanta Legends 12
The fleet relied on the ground game Sunday, while Ja 'Quan Gardner led the team to a win with 104 yards rushing and two touchdowns.
His first score came in the fourth quarter, giving San Diego the lead of a fourth game:

After recovering the ball, the fleet again used Gardner, who sealed the match with a second score.
It was an unsuccessful battle throughout this match, with most goals being scored on the pitch at the very beginning.
Matt Simms scored Legends in the end zone in the first quarter after finding Malachi Jones on a pole for a 19-yard score:

This was the only touchdown of the first half in what became a 9-6 lead in Atlanta.
Defenders continued to do their work in the second half, with both teams holding the other two goals.
The quarterback of the Philip Nelson fleet needed a lot of creativity to complete his passes:

This is perhaps the most crazy completion ever. https://t.co/6Ilyd9Sysz
San Diego finally managed to break the stalemate when Gardner scored the first touchdown in the team's history with an eight-yard run in the fourth quarter.
The home team was down 12-9 at the time but was aggressive when it mattered, and this led to the team's first win of the year.
Atlanta hopes to have more luck next week against the Birmingham Iron, while the fleet will face San Antonio.
