Are you ready for smartphones to triple the RAM of your average laptop? The Lenovo Z5 Pro GT was the first smartphone in the world to launch the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 and a 12 GB RAM. In just two days, Samsung and Xiaomi will announce smartphones with cards Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 and 12 GB of RAM. We know for a while now that a model of the Galaxy S10 + will have a 12GB RAM, but just an hour ago, Xiaomi founder, Lei Jun, announced that the highest model of range of the next Mi 9 will have 12 GB of RAM. This special Xiaomi Mi 9 model will also have a "transparent" back (like the Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer Edition, it will probably display an inert printed circuit board) and will carry the Alita: Battle Angel brand.

In his message, Lei Jun states that the Xiaomi Mi 9 Transparent Edition will also have a primary primary camera of 48MP, but that it will be a 7P lens to aperture f / 1.47 rather than to 39, a 6MP to 48MP lens with f / 1.75 aperture on the standard model. The degraded glass of the Mi 9 Transparent Edition is only 0.4 mm thick. In addition to increasing the RAM, the unique rear design and a slightly modified camera, the Mi 9 Transparent Edition is also identical to the classic Mi 9.

Speaking of the Xiaomi Mi 9, we have learned some new details about the device since our last summary of what Xiaomi has revealed so far. In summary, here's what Xiaomi has revealed since our last message:

  • The Mi 9 will have Gorilla Glass 6.
  • The Mi 9 will be equipped with a laser autofocus, combining PDAF and CDAF (Phase Detect and Contrast Autofocus). The phone will also feature a closed-loop voice coil (VCM) motor for enhanced autofocus.
  • The integrated fingerprint scanner at Mi 9 is optical rather than ultrasound. According to Xiaomi, the fifth-generation integrated fingerprint sensor hardware is 25% faster than fourth-generation sensors.
  • The Mi 9 will have a Samsung AMOLED panel. The display panel will have FHD + resolution, an extended color gamut at 103.8% NTSC and 600 nits brightness with high brightness mode (HBM) support. The phone will have a new "Sunlight Mode 2.0" which, according to Xiaomi, "enhances the contrast and optimizes the color display" when the user is on the outside. The phone will also have "2.0 Playback Mode" to increase color temperature levels from "32 to 256" with smooth brightness transitions.
  • The device will have a screen / body ratio of 90.7% made possible by the reduction in chin size, teardrop notch, ambient light sensor and ultrasonic proximity sensor (characteristic of the Xiaomi Mi Mix series).
  • Xiaomi promises an "exceptional sound quality" on the Mi 9. Xiaomi states that the phone has an audio output equivalent to that of a large 0.9cc speaker.

That's all we know so far about the Xiaomi Mi 9 and its exceptional brother, the Xiaomi Mi 9 Transparent Edition. These two smartphones will be announced in just 2 days – within 24 hours of Samsung Unpacked – so stay tuned for the 20th of February.
