Vargas, 28, was last beaten five months ago when he took a unanimous decision against the Venezuelan Franklin Manzanilla.

Kameda, who turns 28 on the eve of the bout, is 36-2 with 20 KOs, his only losses in 2015 to the World Boxing Association 's leanweight title fights against Englishman Jamie McDonnell.

Since then, Kameda has won five victories, the most recent by unanimous decision against Spain's Abigail Medina last November in Japan.

Neither of the two fighters sees much that can help them now in their fight as amateurs. Kameda has a lot more experience and is more strategic than during his youth training in Mexico, where he moved to 15 years old.
