The Rochester Institute of Technology on Tuesday marked the upcoming expansion and renovation of its Saunders College of Business.

Officials held a ceremony to celebrate the expansion of Max Lowenthal Hall.

It’s a $ 19 million project, which officials say was made possible through large donations.

Jacqueline Mozrall is the Dean of the RIT Business School. She said the new space will help encourage business students to work in different disciplines.

“And so you can get business school students to work with computer science majors and engineers and designers… collaborations,” Mozrall said.

The expansion will almost double the size of the RIT Business School and includes applied research labs, event space and refurbishment of existing classrooms.

Mozrall said the events space helps RIT “continue to strengthen our community engagement with the Rochester business community, as well as beyond, nationally; bring in national speakers, distinguished speakers, organize regional and national conferences.

RIT President David Munson said the expansion “will further enrich the learning environment in a new era of business training that calls for interdisciplinary collaboration and an increased reliance on business technologies. ‘information’.

The project comes at a time when RIT officials say they are seeing an increase in business school enrollment. They said this year’s fall semester saw a record number of freshmen and a record number of registrations for the Executive MBA program.

Construction on the project begins next spring and is expected to be completed in time for the start of the fall 2023 class.
