Lili Reinhart speaks out after an impostor managed to impersonate her in interviews.
The “Riverdale” star responded on social media after Seventeen magazine issued a statement explaining that it “briefly published” an article which she said contained the celebrity’s own words only to find out it was was just a savvy impostor.
“Today we briefly published an article containing information which we have been led to believe came from Lili Reinhart. However, it has come to our attention that the person who contacted us was in fact an impersonator and had no connection with the Riverdale star, ” the publication said in a statement on Twitter. “We sincerely want to apologize to Lili and her fans for this unfortunate situation.”

“We reacted quickly by removing the article from our site and we regret the erroneous report,” the statement continued. “We take full responsibility and will be reviewing our editorial and fact-checking processes internally to make sure something like this doesn’t happen again.”
Buzzfeed reports that the “Hustlers” star then took to her Instagram Stories to share Seventeen Magazine’s statement in an effort to let people know that there was a person or people claiming to be her.

“For some odd reason someone impersonated me in an interview with @seventeen,” she wrote. “Nothing inappropriate was said, but it was not my words and I wanted to respond.”
Meanwhile, Yahoo Entertainment reports that The Daily Express also appears to have been duped by impostor Reinhart.

“I was brought to my attention that the interview I shared with Lili Reinhart was false and that someone was posing as Lili and her publicist,” tweeted Lucas Hill-Paul, a TV reporter with the exit. “Obviously, I am embarrassed and quite upset, and I sincerely apologize to anyone who was misled by the article.

“Thank you for all those kind words,” he continued. “It was clearly a strange day for the Riverdale fans and I can only hope that my apologies will eventually reach Lili herself. I am so sorry that someone thought of doing this to her, but it is clear that they are part of a tiny minority of those who just want to watch a funny show. “
