Just hours after thousands of residents experienced huge technical issues while trying to register for a vaccination clinic, Riverside County announced it would be changing its website.

The county made 3,900 appointments available Thursday at noon. However, when residents registered, many were greeted with a white “error 504” code page. Others who were able to access the website filled out pages of registration forms only to find that the appointments had been filled.
Many people have called our newsroom to report these issues. The backlash prompted Riverside County Public Health Officer Dr Cameron Kaiser to notify residents that IT was looking into the issue.
According to the county, the issue was caused by a glitch in the website code.
“Residents are understandably frustrated that the appointment website didn’t work today,” said Juan C. Perez, acting county general manager. “Although we worked with our vendor to make sure it would be up and running today, unfortunately it wasn’t. Frankly, this is unacceptable. We apologize for this unfortunate situation and will be directing residents to a new website soon.
County officials said a new link will be announced shortly for residents to sign up for COVID-19 vaccinations.
Officials noted that when appointments are open, the new county site will continue to link to the state’s vaccine registration portal.
“If all appointments are made during state registration, users will not be able to get an hour,” the county statement read.

In Riverside County, people 65 and older can get the coronavirus vaccine, as well as adults of all ages if they work in education, law enforcement, food, and health. agriculture and emergency services.
This group constitutes phase 1B as part of the county’s vaccine distribution. People of all levels in phase 1A can also be vaccinated.
- For employees in Phase 1A and 1B – Level 1, an appointment and workplace employee badge / letter are required or you will not be vaccinated
- For those aged 65 and over, an appointment and ID are required.
The clinics will provide vaccines free of charge but information on medical insurance will be requested.

“This is important news for so many of our residents who are anxious to be vaccinated,” said supervisor Karen Spiegel. “We also ask for your patience. We still have very limited vaccine quantities and a high demand within the community. The county distributes the vaccine as soon as we receive it. ”
