It took just 32 minutes for each available appointment at several upcoming Riverside County coronavirus vaccination clinics – 3,900 in total – to be claimed on Thursday, Jan.21, county spokesperson Brooke Federico said.
Registration for the six clinics in Perris, Lake Elsinore and Indio – the first begins Friday, January 22 – opened at noon Thursday. The county has allocated 3,900 doses of the 26,000 doses of Pfizer vaccine received this week to clinics; the rest goes to private providers.
The county offers vaccines to all levels of Phase 1A – healthcare workers and residents of long-term care facilities – and the first level of Phase 1B, which includes residents aged 65 and over.
Vaccine-eligible residents have expressed frustration with the county’s registration program as officials face an overwhelming demand for a limited amount of vaccine. On Twitter, Dr Cameron Kaiser, the county’s public health official, noted the difficulty for the public to access the appointments website.
We are aware that some of our residents are having difficulty accessing immunization appointments on our website. Our IT team is tackling the problem. Continue to refresh your screen. #RivCoNOW #RUHealth
