NASHVILLE, Tennessee (AP) – Jerry Lee Lewis, a pioneer rock'n'roll, is recovering from a mild stroke, but he should recover fully.

According to a statement from his publicist, the 83-year-old Rock & Roll Hall of Famer had a stroke on Thursday night and is recovering in Memphis. His publicist, Zach Farnum, said that no scheduled show had been affected.

Nicknamed "The Killer", Lewis is known for his outrageous energy and piano skills on songs like "Great Balls of Fire" and "Whole Lotta Shakin 'Goin' On."

It is expected that he will perform in April at the 50th anniversary of the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival and his publicist announced that he was planning to soon be recording a gospel album.
