The car of the year has announced the names of the seven cars that will participate in the car finale of the year 2019, a title awarded by European journalists.
The 60 journalists, members of the jury of the famous car of the year, have decided what would be the seven best cars launched this year on the European market, following tests and deliberations. The machine of the year 2019 will be decided following other test sessions and on the basis of a score become the norm: 25 points to be awarded to at least 5 finalists. At the same time, each juror must justify his choice. The winner of the 2019 edition will be announced as usual in March at the Geneva Motor Show.
Here are the finalists this year:
Alpine A110
Alpine A110
Citroën C5 Aircross
Citroen C5 Aircross
Ford Focus
Ford Focus
Jaguar I-Pace
Jaguar I Pace
Kia Ceed
Kia Ceed
Mercedes-Benz Class
Mercedes Benz Class A
Peugeot 508
Peugeot 508
These were chosen from a very long list, 40 cars launched in 2018, which were declared eligible, including the "heavy" names of the automotive market: 5 Audi models, 4 BMW and 5 Mercedes-Benz, of which only The Mercedes Class A was selected, then two Japanese "eco", the Toyota Prius and, in particular, the Nissan Leaf, which won the title of first generation in 2011.
Dacia Duster also did not miss the list, but it seems that the jury was not impressed by the qualities of the SUV manufactured in Mioveni. Instead, he was chosen as finalist Alpine A110, a sports car developed by Renault that does not bring anything new to the automotive industry, but instead attempts to replicate the success of Other brands with a tradition in the sport sector at a more affordable price.
We note among the finalists the two compact, Ford Focus and Kia Ceed, both of which have a chance to win the title, but also the Citroen C5 Aircross SUV, which is other than a faithful copy of the winner of the year, the Peugeot 3008. But above all, the presence of the first fully electric SUV produced by a European manufacturer, Jaguar I-Pace, on the list of finalists, could give us an idea of the future winner of the title Car of the year 2019.
The "Car of the Year" contest is organized by seven automotive magazines in Europe: Auto (Italy) / Coach (UK) / Autopista (Spain) / Autovisie (Netherlands) / L & # 39; Automobile Magazine (France) / Stern. (Sweden), which runs every edition, with journalists members of the juries of the most prestigious publications or television broadcasts. Judgment criteria include a number of machine features, ranging from technology to safety to price / quality and innovation.
