The Liberals say that the commission's report was very different from what they expected, because the law had to include stricter rules for the possession of firearms. Surprisingly, the result was the opposite, says Digi24.

Until now, people sentenced to more than one year in prison could not hold dangerous weapons. If the law is passed, only those who have been sentenced to life imprisonment have banned these weapons.

The Weapons and Ammunition Act prohibits certain persons from possessing self-defense weapons if there are "attributable reasons". Following the amendments adopted Wednesday, a final court decision will be necessary to prohibit them from owning such weapons.

The limit for the possession of up to two guns has fallen.
