The Mazda 3 was introduced in 2003 by replacing the 323 series. Today, at the Los Angeles Auto Show, the fourth generation of compact model with global ambitions, who wishes to continue the success of the previous series, sold in total to more than 6 million units.

The new Mazda 3 2019 adopts a design and implements a series of technologies that will enable the Japanese automaker to achieve its goal of becoming the future of Mazda Premium. That means responding to the demands of more demanding customers, who are promised even greater pleasure driving a Mazda.

In terms of design, the new Mazda 3 2019 fits in the lineage of Kodo – Soul of Motion, inaugurated in 2010 with the first generation of CX-5. Now we have at least fluid forms with a rather aggressive forehead. The hatchback features small rear side windows that shrink to the ceiling, while the sedan version brings a note of obvious elegance, along with the trunk that naturally pursues the body's lines.

Inside, aesthetic improvements can be noticed, which are probably packed with the best materials and finishes. The dashboard is completely new, as is the positioning of the ventilation holes and climate controls. The 8.8-inch infotainment system screen is nicely integrated at the top of the dashboard, while the raised center console brings the driver closer to the gear selector and HMI controls.

From the point of view of the engines, two gasoline units will be available, one of 1.5 liters, the other of two liters, the last one constituting probably two variants of power. Both versions include the latest Skyactiv-G technologies, including intake, injection system and optimized piston shape.

The new Mazda 3 is the first model to be equipped with the new Skyactiv-X gasoline engine, which uses the innovative SPCCI controlled compression ignition system. With this, it seems that the gasoline engine's rpm and torque, the initial response and the consumption of a diesel will be achieved. In addition, this type of engine is supported by the intelligent Mazda M Hybrid system, which will further reduce fuel consumption and emissions.

In addition to gasoline engines, a 1.8-liter Skyactiv-D diesel engine with optimized fuel efficiency and superior refinement of operation can also be selected.

On the technological front, the new Mazda 3 incorporates the new Driver Monitoring System in the i-Activesense package. With an infrared camera and an IR LED, the system notices how much the driver's eyes are open and where he appears, how often it flashes, and the angle of the face, to understand the level of tired.

The Front Cross Traffic Alert (FCTA) uses radar sensors located at the front of the car to detect vehicles coming from the side in an intersection with low visibility, or coming out of a garage, from Parking, etc.

The new Traffic and Traffic Assistance System (CTS) automatically assists the driver on the side of accelerating, braking and steering congestion on the highway.

A first for a Mazda car is also the driver's knee airbag, which will be delivered as standard. At the same time, the side airbags consist of two separate parts, one in front of the other. The former will have lower air pressure, while the latter will use higher air pressure to reduce the load on the passenger torso in the event of a side impact.

Until now, the information is limited, but I will come back in mid-December with all the details of all the technologies that the new Mazda 3 integrates after seeing the car as part of a dedicated event.
