Judge Livia Stanciu, former president of the HCCJ, was arrested Wednesday by the National Institute of the Judiciary following the decision of the European Court of Human Rights not to have provided a trial fair to the former mayor of Ramnicu Vâlcea Mircia Gutau.

Mircia Gutau was finally acquitted by the High Court of Cassation and Justice in a case in which he was sentenced to 3 years and 6 months imprisonment for corruption.

At the mercy and on appeal, Mircea Gutau was sentenced to 3 years and 6 months of suspended imprisonment, including former High Court Chief Livia Stanciu.
