Retired, good they do not validate the cards in the Bucharest buses / The new regulation STB (formerly RATB)
Retirees and other categories benefiting from free public transport in the capital, managed by the Bucharest Transport Company (STB), may be fined 150 lei if they do not validate the cards.
Basically, they will always be free, but they will have all the cards to validate in the STB cars.
STB representatives informed MEDIAFAX that the new regulations will monitor the number of passengers on each vehicle in order to resize them. In other words, the vehicles must be divided according to demand, which can be seen by validating the travel card.
STB officials also say that 80% of travelers, ie subscribers, revolutionaries, veterans or retirees, are not validated.
If the card is not validated, the fine is 150 lei and the new sanctions will come into effect next year, when all pensioners in Bucharest will receive cards.
In addition, the new regulation imposes a fine of 500 lei, instead of 150 lei current, for those who travel without paying.
