Audi Hungary is now starting a new era. On Tuesday, the production of electric motors at the Győr factory was officially launched. As part of this event, the production unit was symbolized by Peter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Affairs Peter Kössler, member of the AUDI AG Executive Board in charge of production and marketing. Logistics and Achim Heinfling, AUDI HUNGARIA Zrt. Electric motors are produced on an area of 8500 square meters, based on an innovative production concept: modular assembly. The company has invested a double digit figure of millions to build and team up the production unit. At present, there are about 100 people working in this new division.

"Audi Hungary has been involved in the growth of the four-ring brand for 25 years, and our subsidiary in Hungary is now entering an absolutely new field, starting to produce electric motors." This exclusive know-how makes Győr our main production unit of electric motors, being the example of our strategic transformation into a sustainable mobility provider, "said Peter Kössler, board member of AUDI AG in charge of production and logistics at the event.

"Audi Hungary is the pioneer in the production of electric motors. I am proud of the high level of expertise of our employees, as well as the motivation we show. They have undoubtedly been involved in the successful start of the production of electric motors, "said Achim Heinfling, director of AUDI HUNGARIA Zrt. The first electric motors produced by Audi Hungary will be used for the Audi e-tron models. This is the first purely electric model of Audi and will be built at the Audi factory in Brussels.

For the production of electric motors, Audi Hungary has installed innovative equipment and islands in just one year. The development of electric motors and production planning services worked closely with the prototype / technical production center of Győr to develop the necessary expertise.

The current production capacity is about 400 electric motors per day and can be increased gradually. Currently, about 100 people are working in this new division, and their number is expected to increase to over 130 by the end of the year. The production runs in a single shift, but soon it will switch to a three-shift system

Győr's electric motor has many new features. In the stator, which is one of the main components of the motor, the issue is to insert as much as possible copper enamelled copper wire into the housing, because the longer winding is Nearer, more power supply is effective. A new center of winding and insertion within Audi Hungary allows a very compact winding of an optimal amount of enameled copper wire, and then insertion into the housing. The electric bridge includes other large components, such as the electronic propulsion system that is installed in its own housing, but also the transmission and two flange shafts that transmit torque to the wheels. The employees produce two electric drive systems for each Audi e-tron, as the front axle and the rear axle are driven … according to the good quattro tradition

Production Plants, Robots Measurements are installed in fixed positions but are not interconnected with a linear band. Instead, employees produce propulsion systems based on the modular method in production islands. Although there is a predefined sequence of assembly steps, the modular system allows branching paths and greater freedom of action in the production process. Components are transported to workstations by vehicles not controlled by drivers with intelligent computer systems

In collaboration with the production division, Audi Hungary has installed three test benches for electric motors in the department engine development. Continue testing and loading. Employees were trained in the technical production center to become experts in the field of electric motors

Audi Hungary produced a total of 1,965,165 engines last year, the company being the largest 39, one of the largest engine manufacturers in the world. At the Győr plant, six different types of gasoline engines and three different types of diesel engines were produced in 2017, with a power output of between 63 kW (86 hp) and 470 kW (639 hp). Around 6,000 employees produce about 9,000 engines per day for 32 Volkswagen production units
