The automaker Ford has introduced the Puma SUV in Amsterdam, which will be produced at the Craiova plant, the company announced Wednesday. The SUV will have hybrid hybrid propulsion technology of 48 volts and will be on sale at the end of this year.
Puma will be produced at Ford 's Craiova plant as a result of an investment begun in 2008, which now stands at nearly 1.5 billion euros.
The first image of Ford Puma reveals important design elements, including the optical blocks and the body line. In addition to SUVs, which allow for higher ground clearance, Puma has a luggage compartment with a capacity of 456 liters.
The car is equipped with Ford EcoBoost Hybrid technology, which should optimize fuel consumption while the engine delivers 155 hp.
"A built-in belt drive starter / generator (BISG) replaces the conventional alternator, which allows for the recovery and storage of energy lost during braking and coasting. charges a 48-volt lithium-ion battery cooled in air, "the statement said.
BISG also acts as an electric motor, completing the 1.0 EcoBoost engine with three cylinders. It uses the energy stored in the batteries to change the source of torque and supplement the torque, according to the company.
Puma joins a growing line-up of Ford SUVs and crossovers in Europe, including Fiesta Active, Focus Active, EcoSport, Kuga, Edge and the new Explorer Plug-in Hybrid.
SUVs now account for over 20% of Ford vehicles sold in Europe. Ford SUV sales increased by 20% in Europe in 2018, with more than 19%.
