The official production of electric motors from the Audi unit in Győr was officially launched last week. Electric motors are produced on an area of 8500 square meters, based on an innovative production concept: modular assembly. "The company has invested a double-digit figure of millions to build and team up the production unit.At present, there are about 100 people working in this new division," said officials. ; Audi.

The current production capacity is about 400 electric motors per day and can be increased gradually. Currently, about 100 people are working in this new division and their number is expected to increase to over 130 by the end of the year. Production works in a single shift, but soon it will move to a three-shift system.

According to Audi, the electric motor assembled at Győr has many avant-garde features. Employees produce two electric drive systems for each Audi e-tron because the front axle and the rear axle are driven … according to the good quattro tradition. The production facilities, the robots, as well as the bolting and measuring stations are installed in fixed positions but are not interconnected with a linear band. Instead, employees produce propulsion systems based on the modular method in production islands. Although there is a predefined sequence of assembly steps, the modular system allows branching paths and greater freedom of action in the production process. The components are transported to workstations by driverless vehicles controlled by intelligent computer systems. In addition to the production division, Audi Hungary has installed three test benches for electric motors.

Audi Hungary produced 1,965,165 engines last year, one of the largest engine manufacturers in the world. At the Győr plant, six different types of gasoline engines and three types of diesel engines were produced in 2017, with a power output of between 86 hp and 639 hp. About 6000 employees produce about 9,000 engines each day to reach 32 units of Volkswagen Group production

According to the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency (HIPA), Audi Hungaria has become the largest foreign investor in the country, since 1993 the German division Volkswagen Group invests around eight billion euros in the neighboring country. By comparison, the largest automotive group present in Romania, Renault, has invested around 2.8 billion euros and Ford has exceeded 1.2 billion euros.

In addition to the 33.3 million engines produced in the Hungarian factory, Audi produces the A3 Limousine, A3 Cabriolet, TT Coupe, TT Roadster and Q3 in Hungary. Since 1998, no less than 1.2 million vehicles have left the assembly lines of Audi Hungaria Zrt.

In addition to Audi, the Mercedes-Benz, Suzuki, Opel and Fiat brands are also produced in Hungary.
