New changes to the highway code that could bring good news to drivers

On Wednesday, November 28, 2018, a bill was introduced in the Senate to amend the traffic stop, which provides for an amendment to the section providing for a driver offense.

Number of the normative act L659 / 2018, Submitted to the Senate on November 28, provides for an amendment to Article 98, paragraph 2, of the Government Emergency Ordinance No. 195/2002 on public roads, which refers to the method of calculation of the fine.

At present, a fine of 10% of the gross minimum wage in the economy, set by government decision, currently stands at 145 lei.

The legislative proposal provides for the amendment of Article 98 (2), the content of which is as follows: "The fine corresponds to 20% of the social reference index established by decision of the Government".

In 2018, the ISR had a value of 500 lei.

In order for this proposal for a normative act to come into force, it must be adopted by Parliament and promulgated by the Head of State, and then published in the Official Journal.
