Deliveries by the "PSA Peugeot Citron" group increased overall by 38% in the first half of 2018, thanks to the acquisition of "Opel", MarketWatch and Reuters.
In the first six months of this year, the French automaker sold 2.18 million vehicles, up from 1.58 million in the same period in 2017, PSA reported, according to Agerpres.
Excluding Opel and the Vauxhall seller, sales grew by a modest 1.9%, with growth in Europe offsetting some of the decline in the Middle East. In May, the PSA began suspending the activities of its joint ventures in Iran after President Donald Trump announced the withdrawal of the United States from the nuclear deal with Iran and the reinstatement of sanctions
PSA's deliveries to the Middle East decreased by 25.8% in the first half of 2018, reflecting the exit of the Iranian market.
In Europe, the new range of SUVs increased sales by 8.4%, excluding "Opel-Vauxhall" activity.
In March 2017, the French car manufacturer agreed to buy Opel with 2.2 billion euros (2.4 billion dollars). According to the strategy presented in November, Opel intends to be profitable until 2020 and offers all its passenger vehicles until 2024. By then, the company wants to achieve a profit margin of 2 %, to reach 6% to 2020
