Sergio Marchionne recently underwent an operation called the shoulder, and complications after the operation forced him to leave the position of CEO of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. At first glance, it seemed a little premature withdrawal, and he already announced that in 2019, he would give up his position. But the major changes on Monday, July 23rd in the direction of the FCA have indirectly announced that things are much more serious for Sergio Marchionne.
At first glance, Sergio Marchionne's life far exceeds what a brilliant screenwriter could produce. At age 14, he begins a new life in Toronto with his family, leaving behind Italy. He began studying philosophy in a Canadian high school, earned a master's degree in business administration and law, became an accountant, and grew up in the hierarchical structure of Canadian companies … in time, he became makes a name as a specialist in accounting, taxation, law and economic strategy.
At one point, his career intersects with the auto industry. In 2003, he was elected an independent member of the Fiat SpA steering group, in order to be named CEO of Fiat in 2004. In 2009, when Chrysler LLC called for bankruptcy, he saw an opportunity … and it turned into reality in time. Initially, Fiat held 20% of Chrysler, but since September 2011, the Italian manufacturer increased its stake to 53.5%. Sergio Marchionne was chosen to lead Chrysler. Fiat and Chrysler merged into Fiat Chrysler Automobiles on August 1, 2014.
For some, Sergio Marchionne will be the one who sent Lancia for the moment in history books. But at the same time, by bringing Fiat and Alfa Romeo back to America, Jeep has become a global brand that is no longer just a legend, it's a ticket printer for FCA. Ferrari has the most prolific period of history. And his success list is long.
