The FBI arrests a former Apple engineer who runs in China with business secrets

It was almost a perfect escape, but the former Apple engineer was captured while he was preparing to fly to China after stealing giant shots of secret technology for autonomous cars, reports USA Today.

Former employee Xiaolang Zhang was a person of interest and was interviewed by Apple and the FBI.

When he booked a last-minute ticket for a flight to China, Zhang was arrested at the San Jose International Airport by FBI agents. He was charged with stealing trade secrets, according to court documents.

Appointed in December 2015 to Apple's hardware and software development program for autonomous cars, Zhang left the company in April and went to China with his family.

The Apple investigation revealed that the former employee allegedly downloaded confidential technical documents on April 28 and 29. The documents involved prototypes of autonomous cars and were uploaded to his wife's laptop.

He asked questions to Apple's security team when he announced his departure for China and a possible engagement with Xmotors. autonomous and electrical and has offices in Silicon Valley
