The first sketches with Mini Electric show the main design elements of the grille and wheels before the official launch scheduled for 2019.
The BMW Group's strategy is to launch a MINI with an electric propulsion system that will be based on the concept of electric concept introduced last summer.
The launch of the serial version of the electric model is scheduled for 2019 and the British manufacturer now offers the first clues of design through two sketches
The foreground highlights the design of the hexagonal grid that characterizes all the models of the brand, except that the cooling elements are now absent. In addition, the grid will remain closed to allow better air circulation. On the right side of the grille is also a logo with the letter E, which symbolizes the electric propulsion system of the model.
The second sketch shows the shape of the rims and the Mini mentions that their design is borrowed from the concept of the year
For the moment, the manufacturer has not provided any other details, but it will provide probably more information on the design, technology and propulsion system until the launch of next year
Mini Electric is part of the strategy of Next BMW Group, which plans to launch 12 electric models and 13 hybrid plug-in models by 2025. Mini Electric will be followed in 2020 by the BMW iX3, which will be produced exclusively in China, and a model known at the moment as the BMW and the following code. Later, after 2021, the Germans will also launch the BMW i4, a 4-door electric coupe based on Vision Dynamics concept
