The court in Slatina decided on Thursday that Sorina, the 8-year-old girl from Baia de Aramă, could leave the country with her adoptive parents, a family of Romanians living in the United States. The court rejected the request for presidential order made by Attorney General of the Attorney General's Office, Bogdan Licu.
"The Attorney General's request was rejected, it is not final, it is on call five days after the communication, but it is enforceable."said Slatina's court officials for MEDIAFAX.
The Slatina court is the fifth court to rule on the presidential decree, after the court of Drobeta Turnu Severin, the Mehedinţi Court, the Craiova Court of Appeal and the Olt Court.
Prosecutor General Bogdan Licu has asked for a presidential order forbidding Sorina to leave Romania.
The Attorney General said that he hoped that the adoptive family would not leave the country with the girl before the decision made in Slatina, although an adoption procedure was completed.
"As a magistrate subject to investigation, all aspects of the investigation are therefore within the jurisdiction of the section. As long as a magistrate is the subject of an investigation in a case, this section comes under the jurisdiction. The adoption procedure is finalized, we have a final sentence and the rejection of my request for revision has remained final. The little girl could not leave with this family until now because she had no passport. When she has a passport, she can leave the country. My opinion is that the adoptive parents will be wise enough not to leave the country with the girl until the request for a presidential orderBogdan Licu said.
