Apple will switch to 5G next year, but not all iPhone models will support this technology.

Ming-Chi Kuo of TF International Securities, an analyst who predicts each year the line followed by Apple's mobile devices, indicates that the US company will launch three iPhone models in 2020, as in recent years.

These will have screens of 5.4 inches, 6.1 inches and 6.7 inches. Most likely, the 6.1-inch model will be the XR version, the cheapest of the three iPhones.

The Chinese analyst expects all three models, including the iPhone XR, to be equipped with OLED next year. Note that Apple will increase the size of the XS Max model, whose screen will reach 6.7 inches.

Two of the three models in 2020, most likely XS and XS Max, will have 5G. XR, the cheapest iPhone model, will remain on LTE technology.

It is very likely that Qualcomm will provide iPhone 3G 5G modems next year, based on the recent agreement between the two companies.

Kuo think that since 2021, all the iPhone will have 5G and Apple will have its own 5G modem in 2022 or 2023, when it will begin to depend less and less on Qualcomm.
