Volkswagen T-Cross will be produced in Spain, according to German officials. With this news, we have pictures of the smaller VW crossover
We already know that we will share the MQB A0 platform with Polo and now we learn that it will be built in the same factory factory Volkswagen in Navarra in Spain. To do this, Volkwagen has increased its staff by 10%. The factory produces Polo since 1984.
Still in production, the VW plant in Navarre will produce 350,000 units a year, an increase of 106,000 units compared to the result of 2017. Meanwhile, T-Roc's older brother, T-Roc, is manufactured in Portugal at the Scirocco model factory until 1966.
T-Roc will be in production by the end of this year and will be unveiled soon. Most likely, it will be launched at the Paris Motor Show, scheduled for autumn 2018.
The new VW crossover is 4,107 millimeters in length and 1,558 millimeters in height, while its trunk offers 455 liters, that is to say more than what is found in a Polo or even a Golf. The engine range will include three units. Customers will be able to choose between two gasoline engines, a TSI of 1.0 and a TSI of 1.5. The first offers 95 or 115 hp, while the second delivers 150 hp.
VW diesel fans have a single engine that offers 95 hp. Some of them will also be offered with an automatic DSG transmission, but the standard transmission is a six-speed manual transmission.
Regardless of the engine chosen, the T-Cross will only have a front-wheel drive configuration. The decision is not a surprise because the MQB A0 platform does not support 4 × 4 traction. For the latter, customers have to choose the bigger brother, T-Roc, based on the VW MQB Golf
