VW Golf is the best-selling car in Europe. Dacia is in the top 20

The Volkswagen Golf r is the best-selling car in Europe during the first six months of the year. Dacia Sandero rises 13 and Duster reaches 18, according to data provided by Jato Dynamics.

With 257,550 units sold between January and June, Volkswagen Golf remains the leader, with an increase of 8% over the same period last year. Renault Clio follows at a distance, with 185,234 units sold, and the Volkswagen Polo completes the podium with 163,924 units

Romania ranks first, Sandero having sold 115,276 units, climbing to a lucky position 13, with an increase of 10%. With an incredible 31%, Duster is on 18, after 97,286 Europeans have chosen the Dacia crossover.

Among the top 25 are not another SUV produced in Romania, Ford Ecosport. The new Volkswagen T-Roc, the Citroen C3 Aircross, the Opel Crossland X, the SEAT Arona and the Skoda Kodiaq have posted better positions since their launch

Nissan Qashqai remains the best-selling SUV on the old continent with 134,547 units. Keep up the pace of Tiguan with 129,237. Another small SUV, Renault Captur, is still in the top 10. 2.92 million SUVs (1.08 million small SUVs) were registered in 2018, which is the best an increase of 24% for vehicles of this type.

8.6 million cars were registered in Europe in the first six months of 2018, up 2.7% from one year to the next. Romania is the state that is taking the average upward with an increase of 33.4% over the first six months of 2017, with 60,044 cars.

There was a 17% drop in the number of diesel engines, reaching a share of only 37%, the lowest value since 2001. In Norway, the United Kingdom, Slovenia, Finland and Belgium, Diesel is losing popularity. In contrast, alternative propulsions are gaining popularity. In Norway, electric and hybrid cars have won 56% of the market.

Volkswagen is once again the best-selling car brand in Europe, powered by the popular Golf and the new T-Roc.
