Xiaomi is investing heavily in artificial intelligence technologies and in the Internet of Things, serving more than 220 companies in the sector. In addition, the Chinese company is already building a headquarters in Wuhan with the sole objective of developing intelligent technologies and products.
In turn, IKEA is investing in everything smart home, but developing an entire smart platform is time consuming and expensive. That's why a partnership with a computer industry giant seemed like a logical move, but who would ever have thought of Xiaomi?
But it's like that. At a conference in China, the partnership between Xiaomi and IKEA has been announced in areas such as artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things. The understanding is global, but in the first phase, it will be implemented in China and Asia, respectively.
Virtually both companies will collaborate to make smart products useful to the home and household man. In addition, existing IKEA smart home products will already be available for smartphone control next month thanks to Mijia and Xiao AI voice assistants. All will be integrated into the Xiaomi IoT platform, which means that they will have the same ecosystem.
The partnership is supposed to be sustainable and will likely only be implemented in countries where both companies have or will have an official presence.
