Romelu Lukaku is closing in on a return to Chelsea after telling Inter Milan earlier today that he wanted to return to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea have already seen two offers rejected for the 28-year-old but are now expected to succeed with a third offer worth over £ 100million.

Lukaku spent the summer saying he wanted to stay at San Siro, even after influential coach Antonio Conte left in May.

But it is understood that he was persuaded to change his mind, with Chelsea preparing a huge contract offer.

Chelsea had made Erling Braut Haaland their first choice target but switched to Lukaku after it was clear Borussia Dortmund were not going to sell him this year.

Sources said Athleticism that Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel is a big admirer of the striker and his presence was also a big factor in Lukaku’s drive to return to the west London club.

Lukaku spent three years at Chelsea between 2011 and 2014, but moved to Everton after playing just 15 times in all competitions.
