Romulus officials announce return of biggest festival – The News Herald

There will be no disappointment this year for those looking for “the great pumpkin” in Romulus.

No show last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, authorities announced on Tuesday that the city would continue the show for the annual pumpkin festival.

He is back on the schedule from September 17 to 19.

As in years past, the festival will be held in downtown Romulus.

“After canceling last year’s event to protect the safety and well-being of residents during the pandemic, we are pleased to host the Pumpkin Festival again this year,” said Mayor LeRoy Burcroff . “Our annual traditions are part of what makes our city a community, and we look forward to celebrating in person with families, businesses and visitors to Romulus once again at this year’s Pumpkin Festival.”

Highlights of the 17th include:

“Pumpkin Pub” beer tent (6 p.m. – midnight) at the Romulus Historical Park pavilion

Food Trucks (6 p.m. to 10 p.m.) on Hunt Street

Romulus Rotary “Parade of Lights” (8pm – 10pm) on Goddard Road between Moore and 5 Points

The highlights of the 18th:

Boy Scouts pancake breakfast (8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.) at the historic park pavilion

Auto Show (11 a.m. – 4 p.m.) on Goddard Road between Moore Road and the tracks

Craft and Vendor Show (11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.) on Goddard Road between Olive Street and Sterling Street

Kiddie Olympics (noon to 4 p.m.) on the field west of Romulus Auto Value

Visits – Historical Park Museum and Kingsley House (noon to 4 p.m.)

Pumpkin Painting Tent (1 p.m. to 4 p.m.) on the lot west of Romulus Auto Value

Entertainment – line dance demonstration and live music (2:30 p.m. – 5 p.m.) at Goddard Road and Sterling Streets

Highlights of “Unity Day” on the 19th:

Games / obstacle course (1 p.m. to 3 p.m.) on the field north of the historic park pavilion

Visits – Historical Park Museum and Kinsley House (1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.)

Motorcycle parade and show (1 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.) from Hunt Street between Goddard and Bibbins

Educational farm and pony rides (1 p.m. to 6 p.m.) at the historic park windmill

Taste of Soul and Food Trucks (2 p.m. to 4 p.m.) at the historic park pavilion

Romulus Got Talent (4-6 p.m.) at the Historic Park Cargo House

“Romulus residents have expressed how much they missed the Pumpkin Festival last year – we missed it too,” said DDA director Merrie Druyor. “The City of Romulus is committed to creating a fun, memorable and safe experience for all families in the community, and the events planned during the Pumpkin Festival have been organized to do just that.”
