Outgoing Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein said Monday that Americans should be certain that Attorney General Bill Barr will make the appropriate decision as to whether or not to release the report expected of Special Advocate Robert Mueller on the alleged collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia.

"It's a decision that the Attorney General will decide to make the information that will be provided to him," Rosenstein said during a question-and-answer session following a speech in Washington. "I think Attorney General Barr will make the right decision. You can trust him to do it … I think we can count on him to do the right thing. "

Rosenstein gave no details as to the date of the report or what he would recommend to Barr as to the result of Mueller's request.

However, Justice Ministry official No. 2 – who is expected to resign next month – repeatedly repeated his caution on Monday over public allegations of allegations against individuals not charged with crimes. This concern could complicate efforts to publicly disclose a detailed account of Mueller's investigation.

"If we are not ready to prove our case beyond a reasonable doubt in court, then we have no reason to make allegations against US citizens," Rosenstein told an audience at the Center for Strategic International Studies. "I know that there is a tension there."

The Deputy Attorney General also suggested that some topics that Congress had requested from the Justice Department should not be released publicly. He did not specify which subjects he was referring to.

"Some of the things we do are not appropriate to exhibit at a congressional hearing, it just would not be in America's interest to do that," Rosenstein said.
