The billionaire business magnate, Ross Perot, who has run twice as an independent presidential candidate, died after a battle against leukemia.
He was 89 years old.
The self-proclaimed billionaire died Tuesday at home in Dallas, "surrounded by his devoted family," said his family in a statement.
"In business and in life, Ross was a man of integrity and action," says the family release. "A true American patriot and man of rare vision, compassion and tenacity, he touched the lives of countless people by his steadfast support to the military. and to veterans and through their charitable activities. "
"All those who loved him will be deeply missed by Ross Perot, who led a long and honorable life," the statement said.
Perot was born in Texarkana, Texas, and entered the US Naval Academy in 1949.
He is survived by his wife, Margot; his sister, Bette Perot; son Ross Jr .; daughter Nancy; daughter Suzanne; Carolyn daughter; Katherine girl; their spouses, grandchildren and grandchildren.
