DEFIANCE – Tyler Kimmet netted a 34-yard field goal at the end of time to give Shawnee a 10-7 Western Buckeye League victory on Friday night over Defiance.
Kimmet also scored an extra run after Luke Cowan scored on a 7-yard pass from Tyler Windau, who made 13 of 26 pitches for 160 yards. The Indians are now 4-0 overall and 3-0 in the WBL.

Nick Helt and JJ Ward each had touchdown points for the Knights.

OTTAWA – Landen Jordan had three touchdowns, Colin White had five catches for 134 yards to go with a touchdown reception from Landen Jordan and Ian Fenbert had a touchdown for OG. Gavin Reineke had touchdown passes against Tanner Howell and Brayden Sullivan for St. Marys.
Pandore-Gilboa 49, Arcadia 14
ARCADIA – Dillan Krohn, who hit a touchdown, threw a pair of touchdown passes to Aidan Morris and another to Colin Harris. Morris finished with seven receptions for 133 yards. Weston Macke had 16 carries for 109 yards and a pair of touchdowns and Derek Maag also scored a touchdown for PG.

COLDWATER – Reece Dellinger completed 12 of 16 attempted passes for 214 yards and two touchdowns for the 2020 Division VI State Champions against last year’s D-VII State Champions.
Jesse Meyer had four receptions for 96 yards and a touchdown, Tyler Schwieterman had a touchdown and Isaac Fullenkamp and Luke Sudhoff each scored a run for the Cavaliers as well. David Homan had 25 carries for 140 yards and a touchdown and Branxton Krauss had a touchdown for the Cardinals.

ADA – Dillan Niese completed 10 of 12 attempted passes for 198 yards, landed touchdowns to Trent Siefer and Quin Schroeder and ran for another touchdown. Fabian Pena had a pair of touchdowns and Hayden Hiegel and Michael Jimenez each had a touchdown for the Vikings as well.
Kadin Phipps ran 27 times for 96 yards and hit a touchdown shot for Cayden Murphy and Casen Jones had a touchdown for Ada.

DELPHOS – Colin Metzger rushed 16 times for 132 yards and a trio of touchdowns. Braylon Baxter returned an 88-yard kickoff for a touchdown and Rece Verhoff connected on a 42-yard field goal attempt also for Grove. Colin Bailey had 20 carries for 104 yards and a touchdown for Jefferson.

VERSAILLES – Eddie Nichols ran 10 times for 90 yards and a touchdown and Fletcher Smith scored a touchdown for Parkway.

CELINA – Nick Adams threw a touchdown pass to Aidan Song and ran for another score and Jaden King had a TD for the host Bulldogs. Korin Johnston completed 27 of 40 attempted passes for 248 yards and three touchdowns for the Wildcats. Tyson Lawrence had nine receptions for 100 yards and two touchdowns and Jarrett Jolliff also had a touchdown reception for Kenton.
Marion Local 20, St. Henry 7
ST. HENRY – Kyle Otte and Peyton Otte each have a touchdown and Drew Louse scored on an 80-yard kickoff return for the visiting Flyers. Owen Lefeld had 108 rushing yards on 23 carries and a touchdown for St. Henry.
Upper Scioto Valley 26, Waynesfield-Goshen 7
WAYNESFIELD – Jackson Rohrs had 17 carries for 131 yards and one touchdown with a Kadyn Hurley touchdown, Connor Sanders had 96 yards and one touchdown on 17 carries and Alex Sanders scored on an interception for the USV. Drew Breitigam had a TD for WG.

MORRAL – Nolan Hopson had a trio of touchdowns, Colby Curtis had a pair of touchdowns and Nevin Robson had a touchdown, a field goal and converted six more for Hardin Northern.

VAN WERT – Aidan Pratt completed 22 of 28 attempted passes for 308 yards and four TDS and ran 18 times for 120 yards and another score for Van Wert. Garett Gunter caught two of Pratt’s TD shots and Brylen Parker, who had a pair of TD runs, caught the other. Trey Laudick scored on a 97-yard kickoff return also for the Cougars. Wapak score and individual statistics have not been reported.

MARION – Perry’s Ryan Yingst had 22 carries for 279 and two touchdowns and completed 13 of 20 passing attempts for 222 yards and five touchdowns. Isaiah Sanders caught two of TD’s throws and Joey Hoersten, who had six receptions for 101 yards, Terry Riley, who returned a 76-yard kickoff for a score, and Jason Thomas caught up with the others. Ty’re Sibert also had a TD for the Commodores.

OTTAWA – Kalida got the low team score of 158 against Ottoville (162) and Fort Jennings (208) in a clash between members of the Putnam County League at par 36 from Moose Landing.
Co-medalist Justin Siebeneck (37), Kayla Nartker (39), Ryan Klausing (41) and Connor Nartker (41) combined for the low team total. Carter Schnipke (37) of Ottoville was the other co-medalist and Gavin Schimmoeller and Nick Trentman each shot 46 to tie for the low round of Fort Jennings.

KALIDA – Livia Recker and Lauren Schulte each had a goal. Kassidy Hipsher got the shutout in goal and her Fort Jennings counterpart, Maggie Pothast, made 13 saves.

ADA – Ohio Northern opened the home game of its 2021 with a win over Concordia (Michigan) at Kerscher Stadium.
The Polar Bears (1-1-1 overall) scored goals from Seth Gundlach, Nate Gottron, Trevor Tabb, Bryan Kern and Kellan Minch each scored one goal. Kern, Levi King, Tanner Locke and Aaron Shelton each got an assist and Josh Ellis made a save to earn the shutout.
Women’s football
Ohio Northern 1, Mt. St. Joseph 0
ADA – The 18th-ranked Ohio Northern women’s football team earned their second victory of the season, shutting out Mount St. Joseph at Kerscher Stadium.
The Polar Bears (2-1-1 overall) scored early in the first half with rookie Jess Gast (Perrysburg) finding the back of the net thanks to a second-year assist Jill Roberts (Bellbrook / Carroll ).
The goal marked the first of his college career for Gast, and Roberts collected his second assist of the year, giving him a record six points in 2021.
The loss has dropped Mt. St. Joseph to 1-3-0 this season.
Volleyball
Bluffton goes 1-1
ERIE, Pa .– The Bluffton University volleyball team traveled to Erie, Pa. For a weekend tournament at Penn State-Behrend on Friday, September 10, 2021. Baldwin Wallace defeated the Beavers in two sets before Bluffton abandoned the host Lions in five sets.
Baldwin Wallace opened the game with a slim 25-22 victory in the lidlifter before a convincing 25-15 victory in the second set. The Yellow Jackets closed the sweep with a 25-20 victory in the final.
Junior Kaylie Campbell (Camden / Preble Shawnee) paced the Beavers with eight kills and a .312 hitting percentage. Rookie Chloei Barnett (Wapakoneta) and senior Cassidy Posey (Paulding) followed with six and five kills, respectively.
Junior Elle Price (Pocono Pines, PA / Findlay) distributed 15 assists against the Jackets. Brooke Kleman (Glandorf / Ottawa-Glandorf) and Courtney Weekley (Butler / Clear Fork) both had double-digit recoveries at 20 and 13, respectively.
With Penn State-Behrend and Bluffton tied at a set apiece, Bluffton opened an 18-11 lead over the hosts. It wasn’t enough as the Beavers lost the third set 25-22. A 25-21 win in the fourth set set the stage for a decisive blow that saw Bluffton win 15-13 in the tiebreaker!
Alysha Like (McComb) and Posey led the winners with 13 and 10 kills, respectively. Barnett followed with nine winners, while Maddie White (Ashland) and Kelly Armentrout (Lima / Shawnee) participated with eight and seven kills.
White distributed the team’s best 24 assists and Price was again in double digits with 14 assists. Kleman swept the floor with 26 digs. White with 16 and Kia Rainey (Adrian, MI / Madison) with 15 were also double digits for the pickups. Like and White filled the Lions with seven and six blocks, respectively. Armentrout added four assists for the visitors.
Bluffton will be back on the field in less than 12 hours when the Beavers face Fredonia at 11 a.m. before wrapping up the weekend with John Carroll of the Ohio Athletic Conference at 1 p.m.
