Rozenstruik reflects on ‘worst performance ever’

Jairzinho Rozenstruik is not happy with his effort on Saturday against Ciryl Gane in UFC Fight Night 186.

Rozenstruik (11-2 MMA, 5-2 UFC) was highlighted by a unanimous decision from Gane (8-0 MMA, 5-0 UFC) in their heavyweight headliner, which took place at the ‘UFC Apex in Las Vegas. He didn’t produce a single winning set on any of the scorecards and landed just 42 significant strikes in 25 minutes.

A reluctance to pull the trigger with his attack proved problematic for Rozenstruik, and it cost him a great time in his career. He is aware of this and in his first statement after the fight he admitted he dropped the ball.

“I just fought and the fight didn’t go my way,” Rozenstruik said on Twitter. “I think it’s my worst performance of my life, if you ask me. I am hard (on) myself. I think I realize this.

There is only one proven method to bounce back from a disappointing loss, and that is to move on. Rozenstruik said he is already doing this and is focusing on returning to the gym to resolve the issues plaguing him inside the Octagon.

Rozenstruik has said he doesn’t know when or who he will fight next, but for now he has paid tribute to Gane for being the best man in UFC Fight Night 186.

“I’m going to come home and work my ass for my next fight,” Rozenstruik said. “I don’t know who it’s going to be. Respect to Ciryl. He won the fight.
