Rugrats Reboot Comes To Paramount Plus With Original Voice Cast

The Rugrats are coming back. Nickelodeon has announced that it is bringing together the original voice cast for a new animated series.

The new series swaps Klasky Csupó’s original 2D animation for CG and brings the cast back to their original baby / toddler-sized perspective. The series will debut on Paramount Plus, Paramount’s new streaming service, this spring after Plus launches on March 4.

The series will once again star EG Daily (Tommy), Nancy Cartwright (Chuckie), Cheryl Chase (Angelica), Cree Summer (Susie) and Kath Soucie (Phil and Lil).

“Rugrats is one of the most iconic cartoons recognized by fans around the world, and this original version is one that we take great care and pride in creating for a whole new audience,” said Ramsey Naito, President of Nickelodeon Animation. “The fusion of the voice behind these special characters is one of the essential pieces in making the series recognizable and we can’t wait to see this talented group bring them back to life.

The new series is directed by executives familiar with the Rugrats, including executive producers Eryk Casemiro and Kate Boutilier, Rachel Lipman as co-producer, and Kellie Smith (The Fairly Oddparents) as executive producer.

The Rugrats debuted in 1991, spawning an empire of three theatrical films, nine television seasons, four Daytime Emmy Awards, and countless products, including 27 video games.

It’s a busy week for Paramount Plus, which is also receiving top-tier movies like Mission Impossible 7, A Quiet Place Part 2, a new division dedicated to Avatar: The Last Airbender properties, and more.
