Rumor about trading with the NFL: Redskins openly talks about trading Josh Rosen to Combine

The Redskins have a big need at QB this year and Alex Smith should miss this season and maybe longer. They would have smelled Joe Flacco's trade, but the cost would be too high, Smith's $ 20 million remaining to date. They could also turn to free choice and get a cheaper option for veterans to compete with Colt McCoy.

The alternative to adding another veteran is either writing a QB this year, or exchanging a young QB that will be available. Kyler Murray is the most interesting player in this year's draft and could get things moving for the teams to choose early. The Arizona Cardinals have the # 1 pick in the overall standings and have just signed Kliff Kingsbury, who is a big fan of Murray. There is growing speculation that he wants to nominate Murray with the first choice.

There is a small problem with this scenario, Arizona has just traded up to 10th place last year to get quarterback Josh Rosen. The Cardinals abandoned their 3rd and 5th round picks to win 5 places. Rosen started 13 games last year. He was 217 for 393 (55.2%) for 2278 yards and 11 touchdowns with 14 INTs. He also fumbled 10 times, turning it 5 times. Rosen was part of a very bad team of Cardinals, but the numbers are not great.

Tony Pauline reports that the Redskins are very interested in trading Josh Rosen and are not discreet about it at the Combine. There has already been speculation on what it would cost to get Rosen, ranging from this year's 1st choice to the 2nd and 2020 choices. The Redskins would still have 3 years of contract with the 5th year option.
