Rumor: Does Chevy work on a larger-displacement V8 engine with a displacement greater than 8.0 liters?

A new report to the GM authority suggests that General Motors is working on a larger displacement gas engine. Is a brand new or upgraded V8 8.1L block coming back?

If you thought that the great V8 gasoline war was going to calm down for the moment, this new rumor is fueling the fire with a V8 engine with more than 8.0 liters of displacement.

The big engine would fit over the all-new 6.6L gasoline V8 engine that Chevrolet recently unveiled. The 6.6-liter V8 delivers 401 horsepower and 464 lb-ft of torque.

The largest large-displacement engine could be used in the larger 4500, 5500 or 6500 Silverado trucks. It would also fight against Ford's latest entries (the new 7.3-liter V8) and the last Ram entry (6). , 4 liters of HEMI V8).
