Next month marks the third year of the Switch Online service, and it looks like there is once again a discussion about Nintendo’s potential to bolster its paid service with additional retro content. In the latest “Nate the Hate” podcast, known insider “NateDrake” discusses how Nintendo may add Game Boy and Game Boy Color titles in the coming weeks.

Everything stems from a datamine dating from 2019 – which revealed four emulators in Nintendo’s NES app. While the purpose of the remaining emulators has yet to be revealed, Nate and his “MVG” co-host believe the third “Hiyoko” is likely for the “Game Boy and Game Boy Color” titles.

Nintendo Life has also confirmed from its own sources that the Game Boy and Game Boy Color titles will likely be coming to the Switch Online service “very soon”.

The same insider is much less optimistic about the upcoming arrival of Game Boy Advance titles on the paid online service – noting that several companies are currently working on re-releases, including Nintendo, which has the Advanced wars remaster will be released in December. We also haven’t heard of the Game Boy Advance titles included in this update.
