Russell Crowe hit back at a Twitter user who harshly criticized his movie “Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World”.
The 56-year-old actor was mocked on Twitter when a prankster shared a photo of himself from the 2003 Oscar-winning film with a sarcastic caption encouraging people struggling to sleep amid the coronavirus pandemic to give him a watch.
“A lot of people are complaining about lack of sleep during the pandemic,” the Twitter user wrote. “May I recommend Master And Commander with Russell Crowe, usually captivating and captivating,” he wrote. “I never went past ten minutes. You’re welcome. And thank you Russell.”

Several days later, Crowe, who starred in other Oscar-winning films such as “Gladiator,” “A Beautiful Mind,” and “The Insider,” responded to the remark by defending the film and highlighting the people behind.
“That’s the problem with kids these days. No focus,” the star has started its clap-back. “The Peter Weirs movie is awesome. A demanding epic narrative, focused on detail and loyalty to Empire and service no matter the cost. Incredible Russell Boyd cinematography and a majestic soundtrack. Definitely a movie for adults. “
Crowe highlighted the film’s co-writer and director, Peter Weir, whose nomination for Best Director was one of the 10 Oscars for which the film was nominated. Boyd, meanwhile, won one of two awards the film actually won, that of Best Cinematography. Richard King won the other Oscar for Best Sound Editing.

“Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World” is based on three novels by Patrick O’Brian that make up the Aubrey-Maturin series. The film tells the story of Jack Aubrey de Crowe, a British naval captain during the Napoleonic Wars. When his ship is nearly destroyed by a French privateer, Aubrey sets out on a daring pursuit to try to stop the more heavily armored ship from plundering a British whaling fleet near the Galapagos Islands.

Crowe was one of the few faces in Hollywood to appear in theaters in 2020 amid the coronavirus pandemic through his latest thriller, “Unhinged.”
