The Rybinsk Shipyard (part of the Kalashnikov Group within the Russian high-tech company Rostec) developed Russia’s very first DS-RIB inflatable assault boat for the rapid delivery of special operations forces.
By Russian news agency TASS
The boat was unveiled at the Army 2021 international military and technical forum.
A major feature of the DS-RIB boat is its pneumatic system which inflates the boat in 45 seconds with a high pressure air tank at sea. The boat can also be hoisted on the external sling of a helicopter.
The new boat was developed with the use of innovative materials, said the press office of the Kalashnikov Group.
“The assault boat features the innovative drop point material for the first time. It made it possible to give a fully inflatable boat the seaworthiness of planing boats with inflatable RIB boards. The drop stitch inflatable deck completely replaces the foldable rigid floor used in inflatable boats.
Rybinsk Shipyard CEO Sergei Antonov
The boat has been developed in the DS-RIB 450 and DS-RIB 540 versions which are designed to carry eight and 10-12 military personnel respectively.
The DS-RIB 450 is 4.5m long, 1.85m wide, weighs 70kg and can carry 8 people. The boat is powered by a 50 hp LS engine. The cruising speed is 50-60 km / h.
As with the DS-RIB 530, it can hold 10 to 12 people. This boat is 5.4 m long, 2.34 m wide and weighs 110 kg. The cruising speed is 40 to 60 km / h with two SS 30 hp engines.
