A New Jersey hospital has fired six supervisor-level workers for refusing to be vaccinated against the coronavirus, according to reports.

RWJBarnabas Health had demanded that supervisors get bitten by June 30, and now the system plans to extend that requirement to all of its staff and physicians, northjersey.com reported.

“As of July 14, 2,979 staff, or 99.7 percent, who are at supervisor level and above, have been fully immunized or have received medical and religious exemptions or reprieve,” the company said. in a statement to NBC News on Wednesday.

“Unfortunately, six staff at supervisor level and above have not complied with the terms of reference and are no longer employees of RWJBH, in accordance with our policy.”

The healthcare industry itself has not been immune to the debate over whether employers can and should demand that workers get vaccinated.

Some 150 workers at the Houston Methodist Hospital have quit or been fired after refusing to be vaccinated last month.

The departures ended a long struggle between workers and hospital officials over the demand that ended up in court.

U.S. District Judge Lynn Hughes dismissed the workers ‘lawsuit and called the workers’ claim that the vaccines are experimental false.

The judge made a distinction in his decision between a requirement for employment and a forced inoculation.

“If a worker refuses an assignment, a change of office, an earlier start time or some other directive, he may be properly terminated,” the judge wrote.

“Any job has limits on the behavior of the worker in exchange for remuneration. It’s all part of the deal. “
