Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively are getting into the holiday spirit early with a large donation to a Canadian charity.

The organization has been around for over 40 years, according to its website, and seeks to help young people who have been trafficked or are homeless due to external circumstances in their lives.

“Ryan and Blake really understand that young people who face homelessness deserve unconditional love and absolute respect. Their generous donation and compassionate support is very important to Covenant House and we are truly grateful for their continued friendship. “Covenant House brings love, hope and stability to at-risk youth who have fled physical, emotional and sexual abuse,” said Reynolds. “They do the work of heroes. For us, helping Covenant House in this way is not a gift, but an investment in compassion and empathy; something the world needs more of. Young people who walk through the doors of Covenant House most often have a history marked by extraordinary trauma. They are much more than this trauma. They have so much to offer the world. Associating this gift is to say that you believe in it. You believe in the power of compassion to transform the trajectory of a human being.

The blog post notes that the COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated the already difficult situation facing the people Covenant House tends to help and support. With fewer people hiring due to business closures and new measures in place to ensure people stay home to curb the spread of the virus, it is becoming increasingly difficult for the homeless to find opportunities by themselves.

This isn’t the first time the couple have been incredibly generous with their money in light of the coronavirus pandemic. In March, the duo confirmed to Fox News that they had donated $ 400,000 to four New York hospitals heavily affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The famous couple have donated $ 100,000 of their own money to NYU Hospital, Mount Sinai, north Westchester and Elmhurst as New York City continues to be the part of the United States hardest hit by the pandemic.

Previously they would spend their personal money to help those in need during this difficult time. On March 16, Reynolds shared on Twitter that he and Lively had donated a million dollars to be shared between Feeding America and Food Banks Canada.
