St. Scholastica took too long to get their offense back on track Saturday in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference football in St. Paul, as a 20-0 halftime deficit turned to a 34-18 loss to Hamline.
Connor Leavens hit Ryder Hutton with 13 and 19 yard touchdowns sandwiched between two goals from Lucius Negrillo.
The Saints got on the board early in the third on a 61-yard pass from Byron Bishop to Pete Saint Fleur. Bishop ran for one short touchdown and threw another late in the game, but the Saints never trailed with less than two touchdowns in the second half.
Bishop had 17 passes for 35 passes for 213 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. Bryceton Butkiewicz (Moose Lake-Willow River) led the Saints on rushing with 79 yards on 17 carries. Saint Fleur caught three passes for 83 yards.
CSS (0-2 MIAC) returns to Duluth to play Gustavus Adolphus next Saturday. The game is scheduled for Malosky Stadium at the University of Minnesota Duluth.

Saints Bleached by Bethel
First-half goals from Matthias Caspari and Erik Martens were more than enough for Bethel in MIAC’s 2-0 win in Arden Hills, Minnesota on Saturday.
During the shooting attempts (9-9 at halftime and 21-19 CSS for the game) play was fairly even, but Royals goaltender Colin Hupert was even on six shots the Saints got on target. Liam Lothian made seven saves for CSS.
The Saints (6-5, 2-3 MIAC) have a non-league home game Thursday against Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
Shrode’s goal holds firm for CSS victory
Abigail Shrode scored for St. Scholastica in the 48th minute and the Saints held on for a 1-0 MIAC win over Bethel on Saturday in Arden Hills, Minnesota.
Brianna Jorgenson made 11 shutout saves, her second in as many appearances.
CSS (3-5-2, 3-1 MIAC) is aiming for a three-game winning streak Wednesday in Augsburg.
